Cell Division Controls Final Fruit Size in Three Apple (Malus x domestica) Cultivars

چکیده
Apple (Malus x domestica) fruit size is dependent on cell division and expansion, processes that are subsequently regulated by plant hormones such as auxins, gibberellins, cytokinins. In this study, we investigated the role of expansion in apple growth identified which two was more deterministic final size. Three cultivars different sizes were selected, namely, “Twenty Ounce” (large-sized), “Royal Gala” (medium-sized), “Crabapple” (small-sized). Gene expression analyses conducted over course consecutive seasons. The patterns three classes genes markedly similar across all cultivars. Two markers, namely MdCDKB2;2 MdANT2, discovered to be correlatively expressed, both displayed initially high levels, gradually declined from early late stages time course. For MdEXP3 upregulated cells expanded, while MdARF106 expressed stages. Meanwhile, ripening-related gene MdACO1 expectedly only during ending associated with ripening. Interestingly, measurements taken regularly each cultivar throughout same experimental timespan showed unaltered remained constant initial pollination at zeroth Day After Pollination (DAP) ripening 120 Days Full Bloom (DAFB).

Triterpenes and Phenolic Compounds in Apple Fruit (Malus domestica Borkh.)
Apple (Malus × domestica Borkh.), a popular and widely cultivated fruit world-wide, contains bioactive triterpenes and phenolic compounds with potentially valuable pharmacological functions. This thesis investigated the effects of pre-harvest and postharvest factors on concentrations of these bioactive compounds in apples. It also studied the effect of ozone treatment, before or during storage,...
متن کاملComprehensive QTL mapping survey dissects the complex fruit texture physiology in apple (Malus x domestica Borkh.).
Fruit ripening is a complex physiological process in plants whereby cell wall programmed changes occur mainly to promote seed dispersal. Cell wall modification also directly regulates the textural properties, a fundamental aspect of fruit quality. In this study, two full-sib populations of apple, with 'Fuji' as the common maternal parent, crossed with 'Delearly' and 'Pink Lady', were used to un...
متن کاملLooking for Genetic Diversity in Iranian Apple Cultivars (Malus × domestica Borkh.)
The cultivated apple (Malus domestica) is one of the most important fruit crops cultivated in different regions of the world including Iran. For production and breeding of high quality apple, the knowledge of genetic diversity of the cultivated apples is necessary. Therefore we studied genetic diversity of 25 genotypes by using ISSR molecular markers. In present study, ten ISSR primers produc...
متن کاملIncrease in fruit size of a spontaneous mutant of ‘Gala’ apple (Malus×domestica Borkh.) is facilitated by altered cell production and enhanced cell size
Fruit size regulation was studied in the apple cultivar 'Gala' and a large fruit size spontaneous mutant of 'Gala', 'Grand Gala' (GG). GG fruits were 15% larger in diameter and 38% heavier than 'Gala' fruits, largely due to an increase in size of the fruit cortex. The mutation in GG altered growth prior to fruit set and during fruit development. Prior to fruit set, the carpel/floral-tube size w...
متن کاملGenomic Selection for Fruit Quality Traits in Apple (Malus×domestica Borkh.)
The genome sequence of apple (Malus×domestica Borkh.) was published more than a year ago, which helped develop an 8K SNP chip to assist in implementing genomic selection (GS). In apple breeding programmes, GS can be used to obtain genomic breeding values (GEBV) for choosing next-generation parents or selections for further testing as potential commercial cultivars at a very early stage. Thus GS...
